Look back at 2010

And of course we can't forget some of the movers and shakers of the group; like Case Manager, Lora Mattox, Debunker and Evidence Manager, Curtis Mattox, and of course the fearless leader and Director of the MTPRS, Dustin Benner. These folks are part of the heart, soul, and drive for this group. The Mattoxes have really made the group go since joining in late 2008. And Dustin has been on the forefront of making us more professional, getting the set up for forms and events set so that we function more efficiently. Getting a network setup for current investigators to download evidence data from the comfort of home has really made a difference in getting cases done.
And now for the case and investigation highlights.
This year we did two live investigations over a webcast for all the see and participate through chat. The first being in a private residence in Laurel, MT. We’ve investigated the home previously, and have captured evidence that maybe prove there is activity present. The link is here: http://mtprs.org/evidence.html . Under there, you can see the flashlight video, where we communicated with an entity through use of a Mag flash light, as well as EVP’s (Electronic Voice Phenomena’s), one of which sounds like a small child laughing.
The second live webcast came from our second visit to the Elks Lodge in Mile City, MT. We did originally planned on doing a live Q&A with locals, as well as online viewers of the event, but came across technical issues with the live feed for online viewers. But thankfully the live investigation webcast went well. Could the spirits of the lodge have interfered with our feed of the Q&A? It’s possible. The locals attending the event packed the house to the point that it became a standing room only event. Many skeptics and believers were in attendance and enjoyed what the group had to present. May not have convinced all skeptics present, but some really were impressed and maybe were convinced that something may be going on at the old lodge.
Speaking of which, the Elks Lodge in Mile City, MT has become a favorite spot for us in the MTPRS. After investigating it 3 times in 2010, we’ve concluded that there may be a haunting in this historic building. The building itself was built in 1914 by the Elks, a fraternal organization, and became a meeting hall to its members as well as a place for members of the community to convene. Rumors ran wild that a murder was committed there, as well as a suicide, and that Bonny and Clyde may have passed by the Speakeasy at the Elks for a card game while on the run. This location will become a main article once all information is collected. Hope this teaser gives you a taste of what’s to come.
Also, another big event was the huge gathering of groups to the Old Montana State Prison in Deer Lodge, MT. For those that do not know, everything from shadow people, disembodied voices and footsteps have been reported here. Many from Butte, Anaconda, Dillon, and surrounding areas here in Montana joined us to investigate this huge compound. We are still going over the hundreds of hours recorded and will report all findings about this location. But just a taste for all those reading, the group Everyday Paranormal of the Discovery Channel show, Ghost Lab, came here and did an investigation here. They did one of their experiments known as an Era Cue in the main cell block area, trying to recreate the 1959 riot that took place in the prison. From our own research, they got the location of the riot wrong, as well as how it started. Again, this place will become a feature article in future newsletters as more information becomes available. Now what makes this interesting to tell you all is that after Everyday Paranormal left, that the entire main cell block went eerily quiet up to this present time. A psychic out of Arizona, one that has worked with the Phoenix Police Department, was brought in just to see what was going on there. Her words were that, they have taken a code of silence.? Now, after the original riot in 1959, the prisoners did take a vow of silence, telling all guards that they didn’t see anything, and that they knew nothing. Did this false reenactment cause a residual effect on the main cell block? We’re thinking so from just what we felt being there.
And to top it all off, in January of 2011, The Montana Paranormal Research Society become part of The Atlantic Paranormal Societies Family network and is the first representatives for the state of Montana. For those that may not know who The Atlantic Paranormal Society is, they’re known as TAPS they have a little television show on Syfy called Ghost Hunters. So yeah, it’s a little bit of a big deal for us. For us, the founders of the MTPRS, this is a bit of a dream come true that we are on the same professional level as one of the most respected groups in the country, and it’s an honor to be a part of the TAPS Family.
